Hidden by the Wings
In this painting, a girl takes the form of a butterfly who is under the hungry gaze of other insects. Using wings that contain happy images of herself, she hides her fear and sadness behind a fake visage. This piece intends to compare the in-nature phenomena of appearing strong in front of predators, to the notion that people hide their emotions to appear stronger and less vulnerable in society.Kay Hwang
