A Liminal Existence
This painting is a reflection of my mother’s journey with Parkinson’s disease—a world suspended between surfaces, between movement and stillness, life and death. The tiled room, sterile and surreal, becomes a stage where time feels paused, life both underwater and above it. To witness all of this as a highschool student, watching her navigate this invisible current has left me in a state of limbo—uncertain, overwhelmed, and deeply introspective.
