A Visit to My Ancestors'
A feeling of disconnect among the designated parts of one's identity: biological relatives—family. While the ancestors (the monkeys) have maintained their cultural order in their homeland, the girl sees this as a means to retain a familiarity she no longer possesses, striving to fit in through an acquired, Westernized understanding. She feels as if she is performing her culture, especially after observing relatives who embody the culture with an ease and authenticity that feels out of reach.
